Celebrating 10 Years of Make Your Own Havaianas

The most anticipated event of the year is finally here! Now on its 10th year, the Make Your Own Havaianas (MYOH) kicks off with a grand luau event at the Glorietta Activity Center last night.

Pins and straps overload
Why luau, you ask? Luau is a traditional Hawaiian party usually packed with fun and entertainment. The word "Havaianas" actually means "Hawaiian" in Portuguese. The brand was born out of the tropical islands of Hawaii's hang loose culture. Hawaiians live most of their lives outdoors, enjoying the many gifts of Mother Nature, and thus cannot live without their so-called rubbah slippahs – or in this case, flip-flops!

Last night, stars as bright as those of Hawaii’s night sky graced the event to celebrate a decade of flip-flops customization. They got first picks from this year’s limited edition pins such as hibiscus, sea grubs, and ukulele, which look really good with the commemorative vintage Hawaiian pair!

There are a variety of colorful soles--from top to slim--and straps to choose from. Plus, you may add cute pins to personalize your pair just like in the past editions of MYOH.

Eye candies

But wait, there's more! This time around, more Filipinos will be able to experience this exciting affair as MYOH will be held in Glorietta Activity Center and key cities around the country, all at the same time from May 7 to 10! For the first time in a decade, MYOH will be open in select All Flip-Flops branches and pop-ups nationwide.

Here's a sneak peek of my pair: I chose slim sole and strap in aubergine, and added four pins which resembles my personality--beach bum, surf's up, camera, and road trip!
