Things You Can Do in Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu

A view from the top
When I travel, I make sure to make the most out of my trip. I explore islands one after the other, indulge on the best local cuisine, learn history, and immerse on centuries-old culture and heritage. From the moment I book my plane ticket, I already have in mind which places I would like to visit, which restos I would try, and how I would spend the day on an hourly basis. Yes, I'm a bit obsessive-compulsive at that. But, to be honest, there are times when I just want to be carefree -- to just sit back, relax, and enjoy, without having to stick on a fix itinerary. Without having to rush from one place to another. Without having to skip breakfast to catch the earliest bus, or to be disappointed when the museum I wish to see is under renovation. And this was what I did for a day at Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu. In this post, let me give you a glimpse of the things that you can enjoy while at one of Cebu's finest resorts.

Your visit to Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu is not complete if you won't walk barefoot on its powdery white sand beach. Yes, it may not be that expansive but the mere seclusion of the cove exudes intimacy and tranquility, something that busy people would die to have. Imagine lounging on one of the daybeds while reading a good book and having a sip of some refreshing buko shake or even a margarita. Man, that's what you call a break.

The beachfront
Yoga, Pilates, and more
While waiting for my keycard at the front desk, I saw this poster with a list of activities that the resort offers. My eyes were glued on yoga and Pilates. How I wish I had brought my mat! There's a cooking class, too, just like in Thailand where resorts conduct a crash course on local cuisine. That's interesting! Kids can also enjoy myriad of play-and-learn activities.

The Game Room
If you are not a fan of outdoors, or simply not in the mood for sunbathing, you can check out the resort's game room complete with a billiard table and Foosball. Families and friends can have some sort of bonding here, plus, come mid-afternoon and be ready for chocolate hour at the adjacent lobby lounge.

Chill-out at The Forum
While you are still conditioning yourself before having a dip at the pool, grab a frappe or a glass of cognac at The Forum, an elegant lounge just a few steps up from the pool. Dining al fresco here is a good idea, too!

Swim, swim, and swim
For the kids and the young at heart, the swimming pool is a perfect spot to loosen up those stiff muscles without breaking a sweat. A few laps is good for the heart, as you may already know. What I like most about Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu's pool is the series of white water lounge chairs where your group can have a chat while having a dip. Those small chairs  are just  so cute!

Do the trampoline
While the Ibiza Beach Club is famous for its Churrasco dinner, there's one more thing I adore about the place -- the trampoline lounges. These are located at the edge of the club near the hot tub. You can either sunbathe here, or just lie down and enjoy the view (huge fishes swimming from down under). It's the best spot in the resort!

Fish-feeding and snorkeling
While waiting for our tour guides to call us for our island hopping activities, we stayed at the benches near the entrance of the Ibiza Beach Club. Richard, of went to the other side and to his delight, saw the staff feeding the fishes with leftover bread! It turned out that guests are really allowed to feed these angels. So, he called me right away (because he knows I'm a snorkeling-fish-feeding addict) and we let the fishes eat like its Christmas eve, haha! If you have time, you can even go snorkeling at this area and swim with them. Kids will love this, too!

Fish attack!
Clubbing and Churrasco overload
There's no better way to end a day in Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu but to chill out and have a round of drinks at the hip Ibiza Beach Club. My Churrasco dinner experience (see here) was amazing. I was on a food coma for the night! Make sure to have some cocktails (I personally love their Caipimara) while listening to chillout spin by their super good DJ. The music is real music (not noise) to the ears. It's not overwhelming and nerve wracking at all!

While it's nice to roam around nonstop where you're in a foreign place, it is also worth it to have a laid-back, no frills moment from time to time. At Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu, you can do both. They can help you do both. =)
