Hotel Stella, Cebu
|The exteriors of Hotel Stella|
Hotel Stella is a chic budget hotel in Cebu City's capitol site. It is not on the main highway but just a few steps away (read: one block) from the major street where public utility jeepneys and cabs are available 24/7. So, having said that, the location is so accessible.
The hotel reverberates a casual and modern vibe. The lobby is minimalist, so there's no room for those elaborate chandeliers and red carpet here. It has an elevator, too, so access to the rooms especially for those travelling with kids and senior citizens like us is easy - a plus for a budget hotel like this.
There is no partition between the lobby and the small cafe/restaurant where they usually serve breakfast, but that's not a big, or is it? The food they serve is modestly priced. The Filipino breakfast included in their rates is quite filling for me, but take note that this might be a small serving for heavy breakfast eaters, and that they don't serve brewed coffee as part of the free breakfast. You can order this separately if you wish.
We got two family rooms at Php1,699 each. Each room has a double bed and a single bed, thus, it comfortably fits three people. The rooms are clean and minimalist as well. The sheets are new and changed everyday. The room gets a thumbs up from me, except for the position of the aircon which is right smack in front of the single bed. So, you could just imagine the third person freezing the whole night!

The bathroom is a bit small for my taste but it has hot and cold water and a clean sink. Bring your own toiletries if you're OC with these stuff like me. They provide basic toiletries only like a sachet of shampoo, a small bar of soap and a sachet of toothpaste.
The room also has a flatscreen TV and a mini-fridge. There is also free wifi in all the rooms.

Overall, our stay in Hotel Stella went well. The staff are all friendly and accommodating, except for one waiter who got my plate even when I wasn't finished with my food yet (nagmamadali, kuya?)
From Mactan International Airport, the hotel is about 30 minutes away. Our cab meter was at around Php 180-200 (regular cab, not the yellow one). If you want to go to Ayala Center, walk towards Fuente Osmena Blvd (just a block away from the hotel) and cross the street. From there, board a 14D jeepney that goes straight to Ayala Center. If you want to eat but don't want to travel far, you can walk from the hotel to Robinsons Cybergate. There are restos there like Mooon Cafe, Golden Cowrie and some fastfood chains. You can also buy your last-minute supplies here.
So, next time you'll be in Cebu, you might want consider Hotel Stella, too! Thumbs up for the price, location and the cleanliness!
