The Cove at Bluewater Maribago

Oysters in Lemon Butter Sauce
On our last night in Cebu, we treated our palates to a sumptuous seafood feast at Bluewater Maribago's The Cove. If you want to experience the best of Cebu's freshest catch, The Cove is the place to be. The restaurant stands on stilts, giving you a view of the sea and a feel of the calming breeze.

For starters, we had fresh oysters with lemon butter and sushi and sashimi sampler. As we talked about our glamping experience in Bluewater Sumilon the day before, we didn't realize that we're almost done with our appetizers! The salmon and tuna sashimi dipped in spicy wasabi-soy sauce are my favorite, balancing my sinful lunches and dinners in the past two days! The oysters are also good - cooked just the way I want it, not too raw, not overcooked. A warm bowl of island conch chowder soon followed (sorry, I wasn't able to take a nice photo as it was steaming hot and it keeps on clouding the lens!).

When the mains landed on our table, I obviously know which one to get first. You guessed it right...the Singaporean-style chili crabs stole my heart at first sight. The deadly aligue (crab fat) soon hypnotized me.

The grilled tanigue is cooked to perfection. Not dry. Still succulent. Perfect with steamed rice and a glass of Chardonnay.

The prawns (peeled and de-veined) were a delight as well. I couldn't be more thankful that I don't have any allergies to food, hehe.

Prawns

The healthiest candidate on the table was the grouper in ginger and sesame-soya sauce. I had more than two helpings!

After we were all full to the brim, we decided to let go of the dessert and have a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon to cap the night instead. We laughed at our funny memories in Sumilon Island, talked about the latest stuff in Cebu and even got curious on Carcar's mortality rate (thanks to their deadly but addicting chicharon!). In the end we all agreed, this trip is worth doing over and over again! We shall return.
