Sugi's Creamy Spicy Tuna Sashimi


I was not a fan of sashimi. For me, raw fish tastes bizarre. The only fish that I can eat raw is Iligan City's kilawin, a local version of ceviche. Not until I found Sugi's Creamy Spicy Tuna Sashimi.

It's raw and surprisingly, I love it. Thanks to the crispy tempura batter that perfectly complements the fresh, succulent tuna cubes. Perhaps it's the tinge of spiciness that balances the supposedly "bizarre" taste of raw tuna. The shreds of nori adds a tangy flavour. The play of textures makes this Japanese favorite exceptional. If you feel that the spiciness isn't enough,  dip it in a light soy and wasabi sauce and you'll surely feel  hot as a thunderbolt.
